oward's Van & Storage Ltd.
has been in the transportation industry
in various forms since 1929. Originally founded by Lorne Howard in Melita, Manitoba,
the company’s focus was shipping freight, but would also move threshing machines
as well as household effects.
In 1955 Lorne's son Les, joined the family business and continued working in the
freight business with his father, and moved household goods part time. The business
evolved into moving household goods on a full time basis.
In 1959 Howard's Van & Storage joined the growing family of United Van Lines.
Business boomed during the 1960's, as both Canadian Forces Bases at Rivers and Shilo
were fully operational and created a great deal of transfers. In 1969 the company
moved to Brandon, to be closer to services and costumers and in 1972 was specializing
in furniture/office and electronics moving.
We are the local depot for United Van Lines Container System, which is a service
unmatched by our competitors. Overseas moves are completed in an origin or destination
capacity depending on the customers needs. We are striving constantly to provide quality service at economical rates. The company today occupies a 12,000 square
foot modern warehouse, fully palletized storage facility. Moving to a larger centre
meant some changes, but we never forgot our hometown values and attitudes toward
the customer. As with any industry, managing a successful business is hard work
and requires long hours. We would not be successful if it were not for our dedicated
staff, which still performs quality service for the customer over these many years.
We are proud of our history and our position as Manitoba's oldest and most experienced
United Van Lines member and proud to serve our neighbours and friends in the community.
We are very optimistic for the future as our firm continues to increase market share
since the start of the new milennium.
